This week, the Solicitor Regulation Authority’s (SRA) issued a formal warning to law firms and solicitors regarding “no win, no fee” arrangements. This follows the recent BBC File on 4 investigation, in which Seema featured, highlighting the significant harm that misleading advertising can cause to consumers.
In the notice, SRA Chief Executive Sarah Rapson stated:
“We, and others, continue to be concerned about what we are seeing in the high-volume consumer claims market… Some firms are not fulfilling their obligations to always act in their clients’ best interests and follow our rules and standards.”
Through its work, FCJ continues to call for stronger consumer protections, higher professional standards and improved public understanding of legal services. Our campaign supports regulatory efforts that ensure legal representation is delivered in the best interests of consumers and that access to justice is not undermined by misleading or vague practices.
FCJ welcomes this intervention as an important step towards restoring trust in the consumer legal services market and safeguarding vulnerable individuals seeking redress.
