Earlier this month, Fair Civil Justice hosted its first quarterly meeting of 2024. We discussed the amendments to the Digital Markets, Consumers and Competition Bill, the recently announced Ministry of Justice review into the litigation funding industry and FCJ’s report into advertising by claimant law firms.
Thank you to all who attended and shared their insights. We heard directly from British businesses and trade bodies the concerning impacts of predatory litigation and unregulated third-party funding. Coupled with the fallout of the Post Office case, where the sub-postmasters received only 20% of the compensation, it is clear that the government must now step in to protect British businesses, consumers and the courts.
